Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ReSell Marketplace collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information when you use the ReSell Marketplace mobile application and related services (the “Service”).

ReSell Marketplace is a user-generated local marketplace app. Users can create listings, upload listing photos, search marketplace listings, search public profiles, message other users, favorite listings, report content or users, block users, and manage account safety controls.

We do not sell your personal information.

1. Summary

ReSell Marketplace collects information needed to operate a marketplace and messaging service, including account information, listing content, listing photos, approximate public location labels, private coordinates used for nearby discovery and distance calculations, messages, favorites, reports, block/unblock records, moderation records, and technical/security logs.

ReSell Marketplace uses location, camera, photo library, and notifications only for the app features described in this policy. Exact listing coordinates are not shown publicly; other users see only an approximate public City/State-style location label where shown.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

We may collect and store:

  • Email address
  • Password hash; we do not store your plaintext password
  • Username
  • First name, last name, country, and bio if provided
  • Profile photo if you choose to upload one
  • Internal ReSell User ID and public user identifier
  • Account metadata, such as created/updated timestamps
  • Account status and safety flags, such as disabled, deleted, admin role, or moderation status
  • Terms, policy, or account-deletion metadata where applicable

2.2 Listings and marketplace content

When you create or manage listings, we may collect:

  • Listing title, description, and price
  • Listing photos you upload
  • Listing status, such as active, sold, hidden, or deleted
  • Approximate public location label shown in the app, such as City/State
  • Private listing coordinates used for nearby discovery and approximate distance calculations
  • Creation and update timestamps
  • Listing moderation or admin safety status where applicable

2.3 Photos, camera, and image uploads

ReSell Marketplace may request photo library or camera access only when you choose to use features that need images, such as:

  • Adding listing photos
  • Changing your profile picture
  • Attaching optional evidence images to a report

Images uploaded to ReSell Marketplace are stored using our image storage provider, currently Cloudflare R2. Older images may have previously been stored with Cloudinary during earlier app versions. We may retain Cloudinary only as a temporary backup or legacy provider while migration and retention periods are completed.

We do not access your entire photo library in the background. Image access is used when you choose an image or take a photo through the app.

2.4 Location information

ReSell Marketplace supports nearby marketplace discovery and listing locations. Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:

  • Private coordinates, such as latitude and longitude, when you allow current location access
  • Approximate public City/State-style location labels shown to other users
  • Custom locations you type or select
  • Approximate distance between users/listings where location-based features are active

Location privacy design: ReSell Marketplace is designed to show other users only an approximate public location label and approximate distance where applicable. Your exact coordinates are not shown publicly.

You can deny location permission and use custom/manual location options instead. If you deny location access, some nearby/distance features may be limited or unavailable.

2.5 Search, favorites, and public profiles

When you use marketplace and people search, public profiles, or favorites, we may process:

  • Search text you enter
  • Public profile information shown in the app
  • Listings associated with a public profile
  • Listings you favorite or unfavorite
  • Sorting/filtering information such as price, distance, and custom location filters

Favorites and search-related features help personalize and operate the marketplace experience.

2.6 Messaging data

When you use messages, we may collect and store:

  • Message text you send and receive
  • Conversation participants
  • Message timestamps
  • Read/unread status
  • Conversation metadata such as last message preview and time
  • Archive/unarchive or notification-related state where applicable

Messages are user-generated content. We may review messages when reasonably necessary for safety, abuse prevention, moderation, legal compliance, or support.

2.7 Notifications

ReSell Marketplace may request notification permission to send app-related alerts, such as message notifications or account/service updates. You can control notifications through your device settings.

We do not require notifications to browse listings, but some communication features may be less timely if notifications are disabled.

2.8 Stories / update announcements

Version 2.0.0 includes an official ReSell Marketplace update story/announcement area used by ReSell Marketplace to communicate app updates or release information. This is not currently a general user story-posting feature.

We may record limited local/app state, such as whether an official update story has been viewed, to avoid repeatedly showing the same update as new.

2.9 Reports, blocking, and moderation data

If you use safety features, we may collect:

  • Reports you submit
  • The type of content or user being reported
  • Report category selected
  • Free-text report details you provide
  • Optional screenshots or image evidence attached to reports
  • Block and unblock relationships
  • Moderation/admin actions and related timestamps
  • Snapshot information needed to preserve moderation history if an account is later deleted
  • Safety status of users, listings, reports, or messages

Blocked users may be managed from the profile menu where supported. Blocking may limit interactions and visibility between users.

2.10 Technical, security, and service data

We may collect or process:

  • Basic device and app information needed to operate the Service
  • Request metadata, logs, and error information
  • IP address and infrastructure/security logs processed by hosting or security providers
  • Authentication, session, and token-related records
  • Push notification tokens if notifications are enabled

We use this data for reliability, security, debugging, abuse prevention, and service operation.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and manage accounts
  • Provide marketplace listings, public profiles, favorites, and search
  • Upload, store, display, and manage listing/profile/report images
  • Provide location-based discovery and approximate distance features
  • Provide user-to-user messaging
  • Send app-related notifications when allowed
  • Show official ReSell Marketplace update announcements
  • Support reporting, blocking, unblocking, moderation, and admin review workflows
  • Prevent abuse, scams, spam, fraud, prohibited transactions, and policy violations
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
  • Maintain, debug, secure, and improve the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

4. How we share information

4.1 With other users

Depending on your use of the Service, other users may see:

  • Your username and public profile information
  • Your profile photo if uploaded
  • Your listing photos, title, description, price, and status
  • Your approximate public City/State-style location label
  • Approximate distance information where location-based features are active
  • Messages you send to them

ReSell Marketplace is designed not to show your exact listing coordinates publicly.

4.2 With service providers

We use third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers may process information on our behalf, including:

  • Cloudflare R2 for image storage and delivery
  • Database hosting for app data
  • Backend hosting and infrastructure providers
  • Email delivery providers for verification and password reset messages
  • Push notification services for notification delivery
  • Security, logging, and monitoring providers

These providers are authorized to process information only as needed to provide services to ReSell Marketplace.

4.3 Legal, safety, and enforcement disclosures

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with law, regulation, legal process, or government request
  • Enforce our Terms, Community Guidelines, or other policies
  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, scams, abuse, security issues, or technical problems
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of ReSell Marketplace, users, or the public
  • Investigate reports, threats, prohibited content, or safety incidents

4.4 Business changes

If ReSell Marketplace is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

5. Content moderation and review

ReSell Marketplace may review listings, public profiles, messages, reports, report evidence, account activity, and related records when reasonably necessary to:

  • Investigate reports or abuse
  • Enforce safety rules and prohibited content policies
  • Prevent scams, fraud, or prohibited transactions
  • Respond to legal requests or credible safety threats
  • Preserve safety, audit, and moderation history

We do not promise proactive review of all content, but we reserve the right to review and moderate content when needed for safety, integrity, compliance, or service operation. We aim to review and act on safety-related reports as quickly as reasonably possible, generally within 24 hours when practical.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business, security, safety, and legal purposes.

Typical retention includes:

  • Account data is kept until you delete your account or it is removed for policy reasons.
  • Listings, profile content, favorites, and messages are generally kept until deletion or enforcement action, unless needed longer for safety, abuse prevention, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.
  • Reports, evidence attached to reports, block records, moderation snapshots, and related safety records may be retained for abuse prevention, legal compliance, audit, and platform integrity purposes even if an account is later deleted.
  • Backups and logs may retain limited data for a period of time before being overwritten or deleted through standard retention cycles.

7. Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app. When you delete your account, ReSell Marketplace removes, deletes, disables, or de-identifies core account content associated with your account, such as:

  • Active access to your account
  • Your listings
  • Listing images, on a best-effort basis
  • Profile photo, on a best-effort basis
  • Password reset and pending signup records
  • Conversations and messages associated with your account, on a best-effort basis

Some limited information may be retained where required or reasonably necessary for law, security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, audit, and moderation purposes, including certain reports, report evidence, block records, and moderation snapshots.

8. Your choices and controls

8.1 Location permissions

You can allow or deny location permission through your device settings. If you deny location access, you can still use custom/manual location options where available.

8.2 Camera and photo permissions

You can allow or deny camera/photo access through your device settings. ReSell Marketplace requests image access only when you choose to add or upload images.

8.3 Notifications

You can enable or disable notifications through your device settings.

8.4 Safety controls

You can use in-app safety tools to:

  • Report listings or users
  • Block users
  • Unblock users from the profile menu where supported
  • Submit optional screenshots or evidence images with reports

8.5 Account controls

You can update certain profile information in the app and delete your account in the app.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s privacy

ReSell Marketplace is intended for adults. Users must be 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. International use

ReSell Marketplace is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Features not currently offered

As of version 2.0.0, ReSell Marketplace does not currently offer in-app subscriptions, paid marketplace events, payment processing, escrow, shipping, or general user-created story posting. If these features are introduced in a future update, we may update this Privacy Policy and related terms.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date when changes are made. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
